This last month has been a stress filled house hunt poop shoot. Seriously.
If it's not for Craigslist massive amounts of scam postings, it's for landlords that just don't reply back quickly and then they've rented the place without even contacting you. I know it's a tough market, what with all the people losing their homes. Of course, our credit SUCKS. No evictions, but still sucks all the same. And frankly it's our own doing.
A lot of the late payments could have been taken care of and the things that have gone to collections have sat on the back burner since my husband was out of work over a year. It's been a tough haul for us.
BUT, we've got a couple that look promising, that seem will be willing to work with us, deposit being a lot more and a possible co-signer needed, but we've got that covered for the most part.
The challenge is, not going crazy in the process of all this, and managing my family in the mean time. It's hard to keep that sense of calm an order when you have less than 300 sq ft. in which to fit a family of 4 with 2 dogs and 5 cats. (don't get on me about the cats, that is a whole other issue!)
But in all this mayhem, the baby has started to crawl, well drag himself to where he wants to go, the 3 year old has increased his vocabulary along with his art of whining when he doesn't get his way. [sigh]
They are both FINALLY over that icky cough, as am I and hopefully through all this moving mayhem we'll stay that way. I'd like to be in our own place before the Xmas Holidays, I just really like a tree again in my home. We've not had a full size tree in our house since 2004. Sucks... I'd like a full tree this year. Even if I decorate it with 99 cent store holiday baubles.
But really, if I must go see your house (wait, was that a 3 bedroom? No? and it's an apartment?) while you are in Africa... thanks for the web link to gowestafrica dot org but I won't be clicking on it. (and don't any of you EITHER.. probably a phishing site or some other crap) Do I disturb the tenants and tell them that you are trying to get money from people to rent it? or Do I just call the listing agent and let them know you're scamming on the property?
Anyway, beware the Craigslist scams, google phone numbers, cross check EVERYTHING including email addresses and do your homework. It's a pain but it's how it is.
Side Note: Do these scams actually make any money? Or are these people just stupid and bored??

When it rains, it pours!
So the baby and the 3 year old have been battling coughs. I took them to the doc a week ago monday. Visit was uneventful, except that the 3 year old had ear infections in both ears. No other symptoms... no ear pain. The doctor turned to me and asked, a little surprised if he had given any indication of pain or discomfort. My reply was when the lightbulb went on "OH THAT'S why he's been such a cranky whiny pain in my butt." That went over like a lead balloon, but my mom snickered. Priceless.
So in the car on the way home from the appointment, I call back to the backseat and asked "Hon does your head hurt?" the answer very sweetly "no" Me: "Does your ears hurt?" him: "no" Me: Does your neck or throat hurt?" him: "no mama"
The next thing he said nearly made my mom pull over to laugh her ass off. This little voice in the back seat pipes up with: "My hea awe bedder, my eaws awe bedder, my net awe bedder! Mama I awe BEDDER!" The smile on his face was infectious. And we laughed heartily, but always turning to him and saying "That's really good sweetie"
All I can say, is here we are, over a week later, kids are getting better, but due to the rain, and lack of sleep, I'm sitting here with a sinus infection. Bleh. He still hasn't said his ears hurt.
I'm not awe bedder yet. But if he hugs me and tells me I'm boodepull again, I'll melt, and it will be all worth it.

The velcro wall and other product ideas that SHOULD NOT BE entertained!
Happy Grand Parents Day! You want the kids mom? ...Dad? No? ...damn.
[looks around the couch]
"Where's that Velcro wallpaper I ordered??"
"Roan! SIT DOWN!"
"No!! Don't touch that!!"
"You're going to wake your brother!"
(OMG I'm going insane...)
"ROAN STOP THAT!"
[muttering]
"wheres that damn bodysuit?"
[looking up]
OH Hai!... Aheh... didn't see you there, no really, I..erm. Never mind. SO, first post and all, I thought I'd just jump right in with a "Hai-dee Ho-oooooooo!!....[cough]...heh" Life with a toddler is definitely interesting, has it's UPS and DOWNS...
(OIY Not poop on the couch!...AGAIN...arg.)
The cute little cheeks, the adorable things they say.. and do. [whimper]
So how many of you are moms that know what I am talking about? I also have a 5 month old, he's a cutie, except when he's screaming at me, not taking the boob for dinner, not taking a bink, (that's pacifier for all you non-parents) not happy no matter how you hold him, or where you lay him down, no swing, no bouncer, no Bumbo (it's a baby seat)...
[shuffling toddler feet]
"MAMA!!"
Heh, excuse me a minute... "Yes dear?"
"I wan do eee"
"...are you hungry?"
(Eee = eat)
"YYYEEEAAA"
"What would you like to eat?"
"Doe Peh"
"What?"
"DOE Peh"
"WHAT is Doe Peh?"
[todder getting frustrated at mommy's lack of Roaneze]
"DOE PEH DOE PEH!!"
[heavy sigh]
"Okay.. okay, show me"
[gets dragged to the kitchen with earnest 3 year old fingers pointing to the top of the fridge]
"DOE PEH!"
[oh SNAP!]
"GOLD FISHHH!!!"
[facepalm]
"here you go sweet heart"
Yea, that's what it's like. Juuuussst like that. It's those tender moments that I cherish with my childre...
"MAAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAA!"
[holding out his little thumb]
"Owieee!! I nee a dan dai!!"
[another sigh]
"Show me your finger honey"
"Seeee I nee dan dai!"
"No honey, there's no blood, you're ok..."
[toddler running into the bathroom, dragging his step stool to the counter...then admires himself in the mirror...ooh toothpaste]
"ROAN No! Don't EAT the toothpaste! I thought you needed a band aid!"
"Ohh! Rai!"
Argh.
[get up to get him the band aid, stopped by a toothbrush in my face]
"Mama I bruh teee!"
"Let me help you dear"
"Aw-wai"
[scrubbing little teeth with his Thomas toothbrush...giggles...more scrubbing]
"There you go"
"Hank hew Mama"
[scurries back to the living room to watch Wubbzy]
There you have it.
(F.Y.I. Wubbzy = nightmarish whiny voice that will eventually make you despise it as much as Barney)
It's the little joys...and the toys... (OUCH) just don't step on one of the tiny ones in bare feet. Yea.
Do they have super toy vacuums that suck the scattered tidbits back into the toy box?
No?
They should.
"Roan why is there a coat hanger in your mouth?"
[ptooey] "Oh... heh heh Rai!"
Now, where was I? Oh RIGHT... As a mom, I have found those quiet moments in my busy day to reflect on just how lucky I am...
[sound of little feet shuffling in the kitchen, fridge door opens and shuts]
"Mama! Chee?" [holding zip bag of cheese block]
...
...
...
[sliced cheese now in his hands]
I don't think I need to explain this blogs title, do I? Picture it with me, velcro wallpaper, attachable bodysuit, with or without removable sleeves and legs in sizes 2T-7 (cuz you know it doesn't stop @ 5T) We should market this? No? Too many lawsuit premises there? yea... ok then. So, keep reading, please, enjoy, commen...
[wailing scream from the baby swing]
Whoopsie got to go! anyhow, follow along and we can enjoy this crazy journey together. Rai? [clearing throat] I mean.. Right?
